My Gas Rant

I have a little bit of a rant I would like to go on. I was listening on the radio this morning and they were talking about the cost of gas in our area. And how everyone is crying complaining about how much gas costs. No one likes to pay $3.25 for a gallon of gas and from estimates we will hit $4 some times this year. My opinion it will be this summer. Oil is almost at $120 a barrel and is continuing to rise.

But here is my two cents people, just put up with it because it’s not going to change anytime soon. Every night on the news I always here a senator or congressman positioning the gas issue with some ridiculous, concocted scheme to get prices down. It doesn’t work that way. It is an issue of supply and demand. The world is demanding more, remember China and India, both have over a billion people, are beginning to go down the path of the industrialized world where their transportation is becoming car based, plus the fact that we have to drive everywhere doesn’t help the cause to lower gas prices either. It seems we cannot face the fact that we contribute to this problem and the solution at least at this time is to find better ways to get around.

We also lay the blame at the feet of the oil companies, now granted they are like a crack dealers pushing the product, but we are the ones that are buying. They are a business and we are the customers and we demand oil. The supply of oil and the production is low and so economics dictates that we pay what we are paying.

We are going to pay $4/gallon because we have put ourselves in this situation. We buy cars that suck gas we live in the suburbs and we cry about it. I don’t like it as much as the next guy but until our habits change, and the world for that fact, we have to live with what we got.

$4 gas.
