4 Ways to Intelligent Spending

We all are enduring the recession that seems to be set upon us. Gas prices are up, food prices are up and the dollar seems to be going south. How in the world do we hang on to the money that we have. Very simply it comes down to 4 simple habits.

Desire

If you are sinking and you want to keep money in your wallet you are going to want to keep it. Some people just say, “I would like more money, but it’s difficult to hold on to.” Then they start to list all the excuses they can’t’ hold on or why the spend money. Stop right there. In order to save you have to want to save.

Planning

Planning is crucial. Organization is crucial. If you are going to save money you need to plan in what areas of your personal finances that is going to be. Make a list of things you are paying way to much for and get rid of them, cut the fat out. But be sure that you have an organized plan to of how you are going to spend your money.

Understand the Good Deal

Understand what makes a good deal. Just because you may buy something in bulk at Costco does not mean it is a better deal than buying something at your local grocery store. Price things out to

Know Where to Shop

The best places I like to shop for things is at dollar stores for everyday items. When I grocery shop I generally buy items that are on sale or I get a discount on. When I buy a car I look for a used car. Shop on line you can find a lot of inexpensive items on sale on line from other sites. Half.com is a great place to buy books. I buy a lot of music and books here.

Always ask if you can get a better price for something. Some stores will match or beat the price of other stores for the same item if you let them know. This happened with me when shopping for a mattress. One place offered a competitive price you took it to another mattress store and they beat that price. So make sure to ask for deals like that
